Valentine at the St Mary's Church

Valentine was celebrated St Mary’s Church in Dubai on Monday February 12.
Before the mass, a brief history and purpose of Valentine was given by Thomas and Angela D’Silva. The grand procession started from the main entrance door of the church with 49 couples, who completed 25 years and more of their married life joining the procession along with the altar servers and priests of the parish. The Papal Blessing placard was carried in the procession and placed in the sanctuary on a decorated stand.
Fr Peter, parish priest, delivered a touching homily praising the married couples for their dedication and sacrifice in bringing up their children.
After the homily, all couples gathered renewed their marriage vows once again. However, three couples came forward to the sanctuary and exchanged the rings.
The complete proceedings were organized by the Marriage Encounter Group in Dubai who successfully celebrated World Marriage Day for the 5th consecutive year in Dubai. Marriage Encounter Choir was in attendance led by Nelson Miranda.

Imagine wearing a T-shirt saying "THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SAFE SIN" to office / college / party / date, around this Valentine's day. Well, that's precisely what a group of Catholic youth of Dubai intend to do!

There is so much distortion and confusion on the concepts of love, romance, dating, sexuality and marriage in the contemporary society, that we seem to have lost the gift of real love.

Check out this a series of four cool, faith-friendly Valentine T-shirts I've designed, which you can browse and order online at the below link:
http://251328.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Shop/

Very reasonably priced (non-profit), they also feature a web address (will go online in a day or two) where you a get a solid Catholic perspective on love and related topics.

This is a small beginning - unable to be silent any more - as a culture of death attempts to hijack and twist the most powerful gift of our spirit - the very image and likeness of God in each of us. So please help us spread the word, get all your young friends wearing one of these for Valentine - and be - as John Paul II said, signs of contradiction in an often devious world.

Dubai residents can order cost-price copies of this (AED 30 onwards) from Oasis Sands - Karama Al Attar Centre:

Happy St. Valentine's Day!

Technology really has become one with our daily lives, and I am 99% certain that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside... I just hope that as the price of memory drops, the possibility of copying our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I dream about all the time.
